Great news!! LIX has booked The Pantry for
our second LIX Dinner/Speaker Meeting.
So mark your calendars for Monday, March 19th!
Helen Humphreys and Alex
Brett will both be sharing the ‘stage’ at The
Pantry.
Helen
is an award-winning author of five books of prose and four
books of poetry. She will be reading to you from her latest
novel Wild Dogs. Some of you may have had the privilege of
hearing Helen read at Wilde About Sappho in 2005. We are absolutely
thrilled that she agreed to drive down from Kingston for our
LIX event!
Alex is an Ottawa gal. She has published two
mystery books, Cold Dark Matter and Dead Water Creek, both
part of the Morgan O’Brien series. We are delighted
to introduce Alex to the LIX chicks.
Both Helen and Alex will have copies of their
books for sale before and after dinner. And speaking of which…the
dinner/speaker meeting will take place on Monday, March 19th
at The Pantry Vegetarian Café, 175 Third Avenue in
the Glebe Community Centre. When you enter on Third Ave.,
go up the main staircase to the second floor…where you’ll
see the LIX table. Doors open at 6:00.
Carolyn,
the owner of The Pantry, has created another fabulous menu
for us!
We will all start with Thai Pumpkin Soup and then there is
a choice of entrée…either Quinoa Stuffed Peppers
OR Bulgar Croquettes with Cashew Gravy. (The bulgar croquettes
is a vegan dish.) Both entrees are served with salad.
For dessert, Carolyn will serve each of us a ‘three
dessert sampler plate’ made up of three of her most
popular desserts. Beverages include coffee, and a wide variety
of teas and juices. (The Pantry is an alcohol-free café.)
The dinner will cost $30. This price includes everything…your
beverages, appetizer, entrée, dessert and tip. We will
be taking reservations at the February coffee meeting and
through the LIX email at info@girlswanttoknow.com. In order
to hold your reservation, you need to pre-pay your $30 and
tell us which entrée you’d like to have.
People reserving through email will have to arrange to pay
either by coming to the coffee meeting, or by dropping off
your $30 to Kerry at Capital Xtra (613) 237-7133, or to Marie
at her home (613) 231-4347. The Pantry only seats 45 and last
year’s dinner/speaker meeting sold out in the first
week. We will only hold unpaid reservations for a week.
