Preventing Spam coming in through your blog

A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — colorful images with distorted text at the bottom of Web registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from "bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs.

  • Download this zip file.
  • Unzip the recaptcha folder into your WordPress wp-content/plugins directory.
  • Activate the plugin on the Options | Plugins Management page of your WordPress admin site. A web form will prompt you to enter a public and private API key. You can sign-up for the keys at the ReCAPTCHA site using the link provided, and then enter them in the text fields to activate the plugin.
  • That's it! Your reCAPTCHA widget should now appear on the comments page.
