Haycock
painted in the Rockies in the 1950's
and again in the 1970's. He preferred
painting major features from a
greater distance, so that he could
compose a foreground from which
to lead to the background. However,
he did keep several majestic canvases
in his own personal collection.
Relatively
few paintings of locations in
Manitoba and Saskatchewan exist.
Haycock painted at Beaverlodge
Lake and Lake Athabaska in northern
Saskatchewan on the way North
in the 1950's. Whiteshell Park
in Manitoba was a popular painting
outing when he got together with
his friend, sculptor and painter
Leo Mol of Winnipeg.
